Man Charged With Killing 2 Young Women, 17 And 19, Now Accused Of Fatally Shooting 17-Year-Old Male: PD (patch.com) — Chicago residents are learning that a 21-year-old man already charged with killing two young women is now accused of a third fatal shooting, this one of a 17-year-old boy in 2025 on South Baker Avenue. Chicago police and U.S. Marshals arrested him on South California Avenue and charged him with first-degree murder, deepening concern over youth violence and repeat allegations in city neighborhoods.
2. Man, 60, Killed In Home Invasion In Belmont Cragin Neighborhood: Reports (patch.com) — Neighbors in Chicago's Belmont Cragin area are on edge after a 60-year-old man was shot and killed during an early-morning home invasion on North Lotus Avenue. Police say the intruder entered through a rear door before fleeing, and Area Five detectives are now investigating this deadly attack in a Northwest Side apartment building.
3. Man, 64, Shot In Streeterville Stickup Friday Night: Report (patch.com) — Chicago readers should know that a 64-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery inside a Streeterville parking garage on East Illinois Street Friday evening. Police say two men confronted him, demanded his belongings, and one opened fire when he refused, before both fled. The victim was hit in the side and taken to a hospital, where he was reported in good condition.
4. Girl, 7, stabbed to death on Chicago sidewalk identified by authorities (nbcchicago.com) — Authorities have identified the 7-year-old girl fatally stabbed on a Chicago sidewalk Saturday as Edi Mari Hernandez Chacon, attacked late morning near South Cottage Grove Avenue and East 86th Street in East Chatham. Police say a woman who did not know the child stabbed her multiple times, while bystanders rushed to help the girl and detained the suspect, who was later taken into custody.
5. Chicago-area murder victims honored at special memorial (nbcchicago.com) — Families from across Chicago and Cook County gathered on the Near West Side for the first in-person Cook County State's Attorney's memorial for homicide victims since the pandemic, honoring more than 400 people lost to violence. Attendees shared their grief, connected with mental health and violence-intervention resources, and stressed that surviving families don't have to navigate their loss alone.
