CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot Monday evening by an FBI agent in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, according to reports.
The FBI had previously confirmed an agent-involved shooting in the area of West 18th Street and South Union Avenue near the Dan Ryan Expressway.
The Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday that the victim had been killed by the agent, citing multiple law enforcement sources.
He died around 6:15 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The shooting was under review by the FBI's Inspection Division, the agency said.
Chicago officers arrived at the scene to find the agent with his weapon trained on the victim, a 27-year-old man who had already been shot repeatedly, the Chicago Sun-Times reported, adding a gun was found under a bicycle at the scene.
An agent with the name that was on the police report for the shooting began working for the FBI in 2017, according to the Sun-Times.
The shooting victim had previously lived at a shelter, had a warrant out for his arrest and was previously arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, the Sun-Times reported. Born in Venezuela, he had had a Guatemalan passport that was not his, according to the newspaper.
