CHICAGO — A fugitive wanted in connection with a Texas shooting was found by authorities in a vacation rental in downtown Chicago, according to police.
U.S. Marshals out of Texas contacted law enforcement Oct. 26 seeking help finding 38-year-old German Medina-Gonzalez of Dallas, who had an arrest warrant for an Oct. 11 shooting in Irving, Texas, and was wanted for felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said. He was thought to have left the state in a Porsche Macan, according to authorities.
Officers found the Porsche on Wednesday in the 900 block of South Clark Street and learned that Medina-Gonzalez was a registered guest at an apartment in the area that was used as a vacation rental, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
Officers found him in the apartment, took him into custody and brought him to Cook County Jail to await extradition, police said.
