Amtrak Cop Shoots 25-Year-Old Man Near Union Station: Chicago Police

Chicago police are investigating the shooting Wednesday night that wounded a man in the shoulder.

CHICAGO, IL — A 25-year-old man was shot by an Amtrak police officer Wednesday night near Union Station, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The victim was shot in the left shoulder at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, in the 300 block of South Canal Street, the report stated. The Amtrak officer was unhurt, but the victim was taken to Stroger Hospital and is in serious-to-critical condition, the report added.

Chicago police are investigating the shooting, blocking off Canal Street at Jackson Boulevard, as well as from Van Buren to Harrison streets, the report stated. According to investigators, the victim was carrying drugs and money at the time of the incident, the report added.

Police and Amtrak, however, are not saying if the victim had a firearm or if a weapon was recovered from the scene, according to the report.
