Local Flu Shots, COVID-19 Testing and Mental Health & Well-Being Resources

The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce (ACC) is expanding its ongoing “Andersonville Cares” initiative to help keep businesses and residents safe throughout the fall and winter months. Neighborhood resources include access to flu shots, COVID-19 testing and mental health and well-being support for those facing depression and anxiety stemming from the pandemic, seasonal change, the election, the holidays and other high-stress factors. Flu Shots:
The Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) is hosting over 50 community flu clinics where Chicago residents can receive their annual flu shot at no cost regardless of their immigration status. Those with insurance should bring a copy of their insurance card. Pre-registration is available, however walk-ins are welcomed. Covid Testing:
Great Lakes Clinical Trials is providing free, bi-monthly COVID-19 testing to employees of Andersonville businesses who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or believe they may have come in contact with someone with the virus. Testing will be available on select Mondays from 2 pm – 5 pm throughout November and December at Great Lakes’ newly-expanded office site at 5113 N. Clark St. in Chicago. Individuals will receive Molecular PCR (nasal swab) testing with a turnaround time of 2 – 3 days. In order to maintain social-distancing and limit the number of people waiting in line, employees should sign up for a time slot in advance here. Testing dates: November 9 & 23 and December 7 & 21. Throughout the pandemic, ACC’s “Andersonville Cares” initiative has implemented measures to keep the neighborhood safe including signage for mindful mask wearing, social distant markers on streets, hand sanitizer stations along Clark street and the spraying of all high touch areas with a compound that kills viruses.
