Another Severe Storm Threat, Nicer Weekend Weather For Illinois

​Storms are most likely between 6 and 10 p.m. for most of the Chicago area.

ILLINOIS — One more day of possible severe weather is expected before nicer weather and slightly cooler temps arrive with the weekend. A line of strong to severe storms will likely start to develop across far northwest Illinois late Thursday afternoon, and will move southeast into the Chicago area, according to the weather service.

Isolated storms may be possible earlier in the day as well. Warm and humid weather will also continue on Thursday, with peak afternoon heat index values under 105 degrees, according to the weather service.

Storms are most likely between 6 and 10 p.m., and 5 and 9 p.m. for the far northern areas, according to the weather service.

Damaging winds are the primary risk with these storms, and there could also be torrential downpours and locally large hail, the weather service said.
