Apparent Trump Supporter Disrupts Chicago 'Hamilton' Performance

The man reportedly yelled out profanities and "We won."

CHICAGO, IL — An apparent Trump supporter disrupted Saturday night’s performance of “Hamilton” in Chicago.

Batavia resident Brea Hayes, who was at the performance, told the Chicago Tribune that an audience member shouted profanities and “election-related political statements after the cast sang the line, ‘Immigrants / We get the job done.’”

The man appeared to be drunk and shouted “We won,” according to the report. He also resisted attempts to get him out of the theater but was eventually escorted out. The disruption lasted for about two songs.

Karen Olivo, who plays Angelica Schuyler in the Chicago show, took to Twitter to express her feelings.

The outburst came a day after Vice President-elect Mike Pence received a message from one of the cast mates during the curtain call of Friday’s New York performance.

“Thank you for joining us at 'Hamilton: An American Musical.' We, sir, are the diverse America who are alarmed and anxious that your new administration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” said actor Brandon Victor Dixon in a prepared speech. “We truly hope this show has inspired you to uphold our American values and to work on behalf of all of us. All of us.”

Dixon plays Alexander Hamilton rival Aaron Burr.

Pence stopped in the hall and listened to the full remarks before departing the theater. He told Fox News on Sunday he was not offended by the message.
