Army Specialist Michael Isaiah Nance Brought Home To Rest
Services are set for Army Specialist Michael Isaiah Nance, who was killed July 29 in Afghanistan while conducting military operations.
CHICAGO — A young paratrooper who died while conducting operations in Afghanistan is being brought home Friday to Chicago, where he will be laid to rest this weekend. U.S. Army Specialist Michael Isaiah Nance, 24, is believed to have been killed in an insider attack July 29 in Kandahar Province. Nance was supporting Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
Nance's family was escorted from Orland Park Friday morning via Southwest Highway to 95th Street and Cicero Avenue, to Chicago Midway International Airport. A dignified transfer of the fallen solider’s remains will take place shortly after noon.
From Midway airport, Spc. Nance’s remains were taken to Leak and Sons Funeral Home, 18400 S Pulaski, Country Club Hills. Visitation for Spc. Nance will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The funeral will be held at Trinity United Church of Christ, 400 W 95th ST, Chicago, at 11 a.m. Aug. 13. The fallen soldier will be laid to rest with military honors following the service at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
