Bears Hall of Famer Hampton Arrested On Drunk Driving Charges
Dan Hampton, a former standout defensive lineman, was arrested in Lake County, Ind. on Nov. 20 and charged with driving while intoxicated.

CHICAGO – Former Chicago Bears defensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Hampton was recently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, according to the Lake County (Ind.) Sheriff's Office.
Hampton was arrested at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 20 and spent the night in jail before posting bond after bail was set at $25,000 the next morning, the sheriff's office said. The arrest was not made public until Friday despite the fact Hampton was arrested almost a week before. Hampton was arrested in Winfield, Ind., which is about 50 miles from Chicago and where Hampton lives.
Hampton, a member of the 1985 Super Bowl champions, spent his entire career with the Bears after the overall No. 4 draft pick was selected in 1979. After retiring in 1990, Hampton has worked as a radio and television analyst. Hampton was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2002.

According to media reports, Hampton was sentenced to a week in jail after pleading guilty to drunk driving charges in 2002 and was fined and ordered to attend alcohol education classes. CBC Sports reported it was his second arrest in the last five years. Hampton also reportedly was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 1996 and 1997.
