Bears' Zach Miller To Be Released From Hospital: ESPN

He injured his leg in the second half of a game against the New Orleans Saints.

CHICAGO, IL — Chicago Bears tight end Zach Miller is scheduled to be released Monday from a hospital in New Orleans, ESPN reported. Miller required emergency surgery after his leg was injured in the second half of a game against the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans Oct. 29. Miller was taken off the field in a cart after the injury, which happened while he was trying to make a touchdown catch.

Miller's injury caused major damage to a popliteal artery, and one doctor told ESPN his surgical operation was "heroic."

Miller had a dislocated left knee, and his surgery—which happened the same night of the injury—included a vein graft. He had another surgery Tuesday, and he's expected to undergo several more surgeries, including one to repair ligament damage.

"Mark Bowen, the Bears team physician, instantly recognized [Miller] needed a trauma center, and he praised the paramedics and Saints medical staff."

The Bears returned from their open date and were scheduled to practice Monday morning.
