It was 1935 the last time the Cubs reached that mark. Does a 100-win season mean good things for Chicago in October?

CHICAGO, IL — On Monday night, the Chicago Cubs continued their quest for That Which Cannot be Spoken Out Loud for Fear of Angering the Baseball Gods by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates and doing somethng the organization hasn't done in quite a while: win at least 100 games in a season.

- Donald Trump (1946) and Hillary Clinton (1947) had yet to be born. Even Bernie Sanders (1941) was six years away from entering the world.
- Woody Allen, Julie Andrews, Elvis Presely, Bob Denver, Jerry Lee Lewis and Donald Sutherland, however, are 1935 babies.
- Babe Ruth played in his final game as a member of the Boston Braves.
- The board game Monopoly and canned beer go on sale for the first time.
- Persia changes its name to Iran (but it still gets mail addressed to "Persia" to this day).
- Oklahoma City introduces the parking meter to the world.

Since 2000, 15 teams have won at least 100 games. Of those 15, only three teams — the 2003 and 2009 New York Yankees, and the 2004 Cardinals — made it to the World Series. And of those three teams, the '09 Yankees squad is the only one to win the championship.
