Welcome to the home of the eccentric Latimer, who waylays couples who are running away together and gives them a taste of what their lives together might be like by forcing them into sustained exposure to each other’s habits and idiosyncrasies.
<a href="https://www.ghostlightensemble.com/the-dover-road" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Dover Road by A.A. Milne</a> is a not-so-subtle dissection of romantic love with hints at the homosocial instinct of English upper-class men. Ghostlight’s production brings to the forefront the play’s implied observations on sexuality and gender expression that has always existed in society if you knew where to look.
The rarely produced play premiered on Broadway in 1921 and in the West End in 1922. Today Milne is best known for his children’s books about the bear Winnie-the-Pooh. But before the massive success of the little bear from the Hundred Acre Wood overshadowed his previous work, Milne was primarily a playwright and humorist, who also dabbled as a novelist.
The play is directed by Holly Robison.
The Dover Road will take place at the coach house of the historic Glessner House — a National Historic Landmark that was completed in 1887.
The show runs from April 17 through May 3, with a preview performance on Thursday, April 16. Performances take place on Thursdays, Fridays &amp; Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. There is no performance on Saturday, April 18. Please note: There is a designated understudy performance on Monday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.

WHAT: The Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement (HACE) invites members of the media to experience its signature Annual National Leadership Summit—a two-day hybrid event uniting professionals, thought leaders, and industry changemakers. The summit will take place Wednesday, April 29, and Thursday, April 30, at Convene, 233 South Wacker Drive in Chicago.

Gold Coast Sounds Good Choir

Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults "55 and better" has nine choirs throughout Chicago and the suburbs, including the Gold Coast. Conducted by Jonathan Miller, the choir rehearses and performs at the beautiful, historic Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, 126 E. Chestnut Ave. Three sessions a year are offered -- two 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, and one 8-week session in the summer). All sessions include: a weekly 90-minute rehearsal with an additional (optional) online Friday rehearsal; guidance and instruction by professional conductors and accompanists; licensed sheet music; accessible rehearsal and performance venues; and free, public performances by each choir. Registered singers are also free to rehearse and perform with as many of the nine choirs as they wish for just one registration fee per session. Scholarships are readily available -- call the Sounds Good office at 630.395.9542 to apply. Sounds Good Choir also offers the only choir in Illinois for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. The Good Memories program is specifically designed to provide a safe, welcoming community in which to sing, socialize, and have fun.
