Chicago Bocce Club Opens City’s First Dedicated Bocce Clubhouse With Free Grand Opening Celebration

Chicago Bocce Club, Chicago’s first dedicated bocce clubhouse, will officially open its doors with a free Grand Opening celebration on Saturday, Aug. 15.

The new 15,000-square-foot sports and social club brings a modern home for bocce to West Town, building on Chicago’s century-long history with the classic Italian sport. Created by the founders of American Bocce Company, the club features five bocce courts — including three indoor courts hand-laid with Italian materials by the Colleoni family — as well as a members’ lounge, remote workspace, private backyard courts and event space.

Grand Opening festivities will offer opportunities for Chicagoans of all ages to experience the new club, from free “Learn to Bocce” sessions with national champion and bocce pro Andy Zimmerman to family games, bocce play with the pros, live DJs, wandering magic and food from local restaurants.

GRAND OPENING SCHEDULE:

11 a.m. — Ribbon cutting with Ald. Walter Burnett Jr. and the West Central Association Chamber of Commerce; complimentary coffee and pastries from One Off Hospitality, Publican Quality Bread and La Colombe Coffee Roasters

11 a.m.-1 p.m. — Family field day with bocce, cornhole, ping pong, giant Jenga and hot dogs

1 p.m. — “Learn to Bocce” with national champion and bocce pro Andy Zimmerman

2-5 p.m. — Bocce play with the pros, live DJs, wandering magic with Magician Surge and light bites from One Off Hospitality, Maison Cuisine, Honey Butter Fried Chicken and Black Dog Gelato

5 p.m. — “Learn to Bocce” with Andy Zimmerman

6-8 p.m. — Open bocce play, spritz bar and live DJ sets

Bocce has been part of Chicago’s social fabric since Italian immigrants established leagues and neighborhood courts in the early 1900s. Chicago Bocce Club gives that tradition a permanent, modern home designed for both longtime players and newcomers. The club had 180 members sign up before opening its doors.
