Jewel-Osco’s Shiploads of Celebrations & 3rd Annual Beach Volleyball Charity Classic

One of Jewel-Osco’s most anticipated annual events returns to North Avenue Beach on Thursday, September 10, bringing together the grocer’s annual anniversary beach celebration and 3rd Annual Beach Volleyball Charity Classic in honor of 127 years as Chicagoland’s hometown grocer.

This year’s ‘Shiploads of Celebrations’ will transform the lakefront into a pirate paradise from 6–10 p.m., complete with amped-up yacht rock, live DJs, beach games and tournaments, sponsor activations, swag giveaways and plenty of swashbuckling surprises. Guests are encouraged to dress the part for a pirate look-alike contest, with $250 Jewel-Osco gift cards awarded to the best-dressed buccaneers.

Returning to the sand for its third year, the Jewel-Osco Beach Volleyball Charity Classic will bring teams together to compete for prizes and the opportunity to direct $20,000 in donations to local charitable organizations, including the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Beyond Hunger and Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. A cornhole tournament will also offer prizes and another opportunity to play for a cause.
