Join us for a professional online development session co-presented by <a href="https://www.teachtank.org/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Teach Tank</a>. This professional development session will include brand-new creative writing exercises designed to spark stimulating conversations with a focus on making new connections and learning from one another.
If you have attended any of our previous writing institutes, this workshop is an entirely new session that will ignite your passion for writing and get you excited to get in front of the classroom again. Just like remixing a song, we want to help shake up your curriculum for a fresh way to connect with students.
You’ll learn how to better integrate the museum’s many online resources, remixing them within your own writing curriculum. In fact, you’re encouraged to bring your curriculum with you to swap ideas with your peers and make notes on how to refresh it!
This is a day for educators to feel seen, heard, and valued. What challenges are you facing as an educator in 2026? Chances are good you’re not alone. Is AI the enemy, or is it not enough classroom time to devote to writing instruction? We’ll talk about ways to integrate writing instruction in your classroom and share ideas to strengthen everyone’s curriculum and instruction.
Illinois Teachers will earn 4 CPDUs.

Starting July 9, 2026, Water Tower Place will play host to <a href="https://www.citymarketirl.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">City Market IRL</a>, a new evening market experience that blends local food, artisan vendors, live music and community gathering. 
Held weekly on Thursdays from 4-8 p.m. on Level 4 of the iconic Mag Mile shopping center, City Market IRL will feature live music and family-friendly community programming alongside more than 100 local vendors offering ready-to-eat dinner options, vintage and upcycled goods, and hand-crafted gifts. 
City Market IRL builds on the success of the annual Water Tower Place indoor winter market. Created in partnership with the <a href="https://www.southloopfarmersmarket.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">South Loop Farmers Market</a>, City Market IRL moves beyond the traditional market experience to curate an inviting “third space,” where visitors can connect, explore and experience the magic of summer in Chicago – together. 
“City Market IRL is about bringing people together through food, culture, creativity and shared experiences,” said Tina Feldstein, Co-Founder and Market Manager at the South Loop Farmers Market. “We’re creating a vibrant weekly gathering place where Chicagoans and visitors alike can spend an evening discovering local makers, enjoying great food and reconnecting with community.”
Like the winter market, City Market IRL will be both pet and family-friendly and will feature expanded seating and lounge-style gathering areas designed to encourage guests to relax, eat, connect and enjoy the atmosphere.

Gold Coast Sounds Good Choir

Chicagoland's largest no-audition choral program for adults "55 and better" has nine choirs throughout Chicago and the suburbs, including the Gold Coast. Conducted by Jonathan Miller, the choir rehearses and performs at the beautiful, historic Fourth Presbyterian Church on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, 126 E. Chestnut Ave. Three sessions a year are offered -- two 15-week sessions in the fall and spring, and one 8-week session in the summer). All sessions include: a weekly 90-minute rehearsal with an additional (optional) online Friday rehearsal; guidance and instruction by professional conductors and accompanists; licensed sheet music; accessible rehearsal and performance venues; and free, public performances by each choir. Registered singers are also free to rehearse and perform with as many of the nine choirs as they wish for just one registration fee per session. Scholarships are readily available -- call the Sounds Good office at 630.395.9542 to apply. Sounds Good Choir also offers the only choir in Illinois for adults with early-stage dementia and their care partners. The Good Memories program is specifically designed to provide a safe, welcoming community in which to sing, socialize, and have fun.
