Calumet Park Man Faces DUI Charges in Crash That Put 11-Year-Old Girl in Critical Condition

CHICAGO — A Calumet Park man was arrested in connection with a crash that put an 11-year-old in critical condition earlier this week, according to Chicago police.
William Dunlap, 68, of the 12500 block of South Laflin Avenue, was charged with two counts of felony aggravated driving under influence, as well as misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.08 and leaving the scene of an accident. He also was cited with driving on the sidewalk, failure to stay in the proper lane, driving to the left of center and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Dunlap is accused of hitting an 11-year-old girl and a 41-year-old woman, as well as two vehicles, at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, when he was travelling in the 7900 block of South Vincennes Avenue. The girl, Keeshuna Patterson, is in critical condition at Comer Children's Hospital, and the woman was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Keeshuna was pinned against the front porch steps of a home near 80th Street and Vincennes Avenue by Dunlap's vehicle, according to the Chicago Tribune. She was on her way to a local candy standy, the Tribune reports.
