Chance The Rapper Creates New Thanksgiving Anthem
He performed his new song on "Saturday Night Live."

CHICAGO, IL — Chance the Rapper hosted "Saturday Night Live" Nov. 18 alongside musical guest Eminem. Chance debuted a Thanksgiving song on the show about crazy family members coming together under one roof. During his opening monologue, Chance said he pledged $1 million to Chicago Public Schools.
"The only problem is, I talked to my accountant, and I don't have it. So I need to make a lot of money very fast," he explained. "But then I realized, there's no good Thanksgiving songs. And you can make some serious cash off a holiday hit."
Chance told the audience he wants to become the "Mariah Carey of Thanksgiving," and generate royalties like her hit "All I Want For Christmas" does.

He dedicated his song to the family "outcasts and weirdos" who are invited to Thanksgiving dinners. Chance sang about how it's "the one day a year" when you "are forced to see every single bad apple on your whole family tree."
Leslie Jones, Kenan Thompson, Pete Davidson and other 'SNL' stars joined Chance, representing the 'bad apples:' an aunt who shows him the gun in her purse, an uncle who brought his oxygen tank to the gathering while chain smoking "Kools" and a family member who's "just insane." A group of gospel turkeys performed as Chance's backup singers.

Chance also sang about an uncle telling a Bill Cosby joke, a family member who's a magician and another uncle who "showed up with a woman who's not his wife."
Chance has made several appearances on the show for the past two years. He appeared in December 2015 as a musical guest, and played "Sunday Candy" from the Social Experiment's "Surf", and "Somewhere in Paradise." Then he appeared in early 2016 alongside Kanye West. Last December, Chance had a cameo on SNL and performed his Emmy-nominated skit "Jingle Barack."
Last holiday season, Chance and fellow Chicagoan Jeremih released a surprise mixtape for Christmas, Merry Christmas Lil' Mama, as a "gift to Chicago."
Chance announced his $1 million donation to financially-struggling Chicago Public Schools in March. He said the donation would go toward art and enrichment programs.
