Watch Chance the Rapper Lead Voting Parade Through the Loop

VIDEO: The Chicago hip-hop artist's "Parade to the Polls" on Monday combined a free concert with a procession to an early voting site.

CHICAGO, IL — Chance the Rapper became Chance the Parade Leader on Monday night as he navigated hundreds of people through the Loop to a downtown early voting site.

The procession was part of the hip-hop musician's "Parade to the Polls" event, which combined a free concert earlier Monday with a literal parade to a polling place at 15 W. Washington St. The event was Chance's effort to get out the vote ahead of Tuesday's presidential election.

The concert initially was going to be held at Virgin Hotels Chicago, but that was changed to Grant Park when concerns that the original venue would be too small, according to the Chicago Tribune. Some of the show's performers included Twin Peaks, Malcolm London and Taylor Bennett, Chance's brother.

The parade began after Chance finished performing at the concert. The line to vote grew in size as the group of would-be voters and music fans arrived at the Loop polling place. Some reports said the voting side was extending its hours so that everyone waiting could vote.
