Chance the Rapper Releases New White Sox Cap Designs
The latest South Side fashion trend hits the market before Friday's home opener. But you'll need to act quickly if you want to take part.
CHICAGO, IL - The 1983 ‘Winning Ugly’ caps, the green jerseys and ‘Soxside Irish’ shirts will have some company when it comes to the latest style for Chicago White Sox fans.
South Side hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper has released a redesign of the White Sox cap and will have 2,000 available in black, blue and gray beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, the day of the team’s home opener against the Cleveland Indians.
In a partnership with hat maker New Era, the rapper unveiled the designs in a video posted to his website on Wednesday. The 9FIFTY snapback style caps are going for $40-$45 and can be purchased at the White Sox home opener, or online at ShopNewEraCap.com, ChanceRaps.com or ShopMLB.com.

Showing off his South Side pride is nothing new to Chance, who grew up right off 79th Street near the Red Line tracks. He’s known for donning a classic White Sox cap while making public appearances with The Social Experiment, his creative group.
Chance will also throw out the first pitch against the home opener, which starts at 3:05 p.m. Friday.
