Chicago-Area Weather Forecast: Thunderstorms And Temps In 80s

Warm weather is on tap for today and the upcoming weekend. While sunny skies are in the forecast Friday for the Chicago area, with temps ranging from a high of 69 to 85 degrees, rain and thunderstorms could make an appearance on Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Some of the storms could be strong and produce heavy rainfall and hail.

There is a chance for thunderstorms throughout the day on Saturday, while a chance of rain showers is in the forecast Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The rain should pass by Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, high temps between 79 and 86 degrees are expected for the Chicago area. On Sunday, it will be much of the same with high temps between 76 and 86 degrees.

• Rest of Friday: Sunny. Highs in the mid 80s inland...with temperatures falling into the 60s near the lake. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph becoming east.
• Friday Night: Clear in the evening, then partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 60s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Saturday: Partly sunny with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 80s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.
• Saturday Night: Partly cloudy with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
• Sunday: Partly cloudy with a 20 percent chance of showers in the morning, then mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 80s inland...but only around 80 near the lake. West winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Sunday Night: Partly cloudy in the evening then clearing. A 20 percent chance of showers. Lows in the upper 50s.
• Monday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s inland...but only in the upper 60s near the lake.
• Monday Night: Clear. Lows in the mid 50s.
