At Chicago Bourbon and BBQ event, Friends of the IDF raises $150,000 to benefit Israeli soldiers

CHICAGO, July 2 – Some 200 guests from Chicago’s Jewish community gathered Thursday night at the Apogee Lounge in the Dana Hotel to enjoy bourbon and barbecue, while raising $150,000 to support well-being and educational programs for the brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The annual Bourbon & BBQ event, hosted by the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) Illinois Chapter and co-chaired by FIDF Illinois Chapter President Tom Kane; FIDF Illinois Chapter Board Members Louis Paster and David Heller; FIDF National Board Member and Illinois Chapter Chairman Emeritus Daniel J. Hyman ; and FIDF Illinois Chapter supporter Noah Levy , brought together friends and supporters of the organization for an upscale evening in the heart of Chicago’s downtown. Attendees enjoyed a premium bourbon tasting, award-winning Gibson’s barbeque, a sampling of fine cigars, and a raffle with luxury prizes – including a rare bottle of Pappy Van Winkle.
“It doesn’t get better than enjoying an evening of drinks and delicious food with friends, while also benefitting Israeli soldiers,” said Kane. “The evening was a fun gathering with a serious goal, to support the brave men and women of the IDF, and it was a huge success!”
