Chicago International Charter School Teachers End Strike

A tentative deal has been reached and picketing has been suspended.

CHICAGO — Teachers at four charter schools in Chicago ended their strike Monday after a tentative deal was reached. The strike affected more than 2,000 students at the campuses, which are operated by Chicago International Charter Schools.

The teachers have been trying to reach a contract with Civitas Education Partners, which manages the four schools. The new agreement includes class size reductions, improved pay schedules and guarantees on social workers and counselors, according to the Chicago Teachers Union. The new deal will now undergo a review and vote.

The strike affected students at Wrightwood Elementary School, ChicagoQuest High School, Ellison High School and Northtown Academy High School.
