Chicago Police Spt. Eddie Johnson Retiring Amid Investigation
"At some point it's time to create a different chapter in your life," Johnson told reporters Monday.

CHICAGO — Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson will be stepping down, amid an inspector general’s investigation into the incident in which he was found slumped over in his Chevy Tahoe after he’d been drinking at a dinner with friends last month.
Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi announced Johnson’s decision to retire on Twitter, calling the superintendent “A true son of Chicago who grew up in public housing & went to public schools went on to become one of our most dedicated public servants.”
Johnson and Mayor Lori Lightfoot planned to formally announce his retirement at 10:45 a.m. at Chicago Police Headquarters.
