Chicago Rapper Chief Keef Charged With DUI In Miami Beach

Police allege the rapper had a cup of "sizzurp" — a mix of prescription cough syrup and soda — when he was arrested Saturday.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — Chicago rapper Chief Keef was arrested in Miami Beach during a weekend traffic stop in which police claim he allegedly had a cup of "sizzurp" — a purple concoction of prescription coedine cough syrup and a soft drink such as Mountain Dew — while he was behind the wheel of a green, two-door McLaren, according to the Miami Herald. Keith Cozart, Chief Keef's real name, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence after he failed field sobriety tests, the report stated.

Chief Keef, 21, was stopped when police witnessed the rapper's passenger, Cortez McElrath, jump out of the McLaren at a stop light in order to allegedly give a bag filled with a "green leafy substance" to the passenger in an Altima behind the sportscar, the report stated. According to police, Keef began moving his hands around inside the car, and officers held him at Taser-point. Police also handcuffed McElrath outside the car and pulled over the Altima, the report added.

A search of the Altima found marijuana, and the three passengers in that car, along with McElrath, were charged with possession, the report stated. One of the passengers also had an outstanding warrant, and the Altima's driver was charged with driving with a suspended license, the report added.

During the stop, police claim Chief Keef's eyes were bloodshot and watery. He also allegedly had a cup filled with "a syrupy liquid" the reporting officer called "sizzurp, which is also known as 'lean' or 'purple drank'," according to the Herald. Keef also allegedly advised officers about the probable outcome if he was tested for illegal substances.
