Chicago Woman Auditions For The Voice

You can cheer Meagan McNeal on Monday evening on NBC 5.

CHICAGO, IL -- Meagan McNeal, 31, of Chicago takes the stage Monday night for The Voice Blind Audition. For years, McNeal has been performing at private events and other gigs around Chicago. She said she's hoping at least one coach will turn his or her chair around.

In an interview on NBC 5, McNeal said her family had been asking her to audition for The Voice for many years, and this year she said she'd go for it.

McNeal said The Voice was one of her grandmother's favorite shows, and they used to watch it together. She said her grandma recently passed away.

"She's poured so much into me, and I just decided to go audition," McNeal explained during the NBC interview.

McNeal has a four-year-old boy who she said is "the greatest thing that ever happened" to her.

When asked about how she remained calm before her audition, McNeal said she ignored the fact that millions of people would be watching, and treated it like one of her Chicago gigs.

McNeal said she's hoping to make Chicago proud. You can cheer her on at 7 p.m. on NBC 5.
