Chicago's Top Earning Independent Restaurants, Ranked
Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse ranked No.1, pulling in $24.7 million in gross sales.

CHICAGO, IL — Nine Chicago locations made it onto Restaurant Business 'Top 100 Independent Restaurants' list for 2016 gross sales. The list ranks non-chain locations across the United States. Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse on Rush Street ranked No. 1 in Chicago, with more than $25 million in sales last year.
The report revealed the steakhouse sold more than 350,000 meals in 2016. Gibsons has held Chicago's No. 1 spot on the list for the past three years. Joe's Seafood on Grand Avenue was the runner up, with gross sales of more than $21 million, and 265,ooo meals served.
Restaurant Business said the list was calculated through surveys and estimates. Independent restaurants with no more than five locations are eligible.

"In a year when independents were closing, these money makers fought against challenges and changes to stay alive," the report stated.

3.) Primehouse, 616 N. Rush: $19.2 million (estimate)
4.) Chicago Cut Steakhouse, 300 N. LaSalle Drive: $17.2 million (estimate)
5.) Shaw's Crab House, 21 E. Hubbard St.: $17.1 million (estimate)
6.) Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, 33 W. Kinzie St.: $14.8 million (estimate)
7.) Hugo's Frog Bar & Fish House, 1024 N. Rush: $14.3 million
8.) Quartino Ristorante, 626 N. State St.: $13.8 million
9.) Tavern On Rush, 1031 N. Rush: $13.4 million
