Coffee With a Cop Day: Chicago Police Try to Build Trust Over a Cup of Joe

CHICAGO, IL — Residents will have an opportunity to meet the Chicago police officers who protect and serve their neighborhoods as part of a nationwide outreach event Friday.

The Chicago Police Department will be participating in Coffee With a Cop Day, a national event established to help build trust between law enforcement officers and the communities they patrol. Chicagoans will be able to share cup of Joe — and yes, a doughnut in some cases — with the cops who work in their districts at designated times and locations Friday, Oct. 7.

"The mission of this event is to break down barriers between Police Officers and the citizens of the district they serve by removing agendas and allowing opportunities to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know one another," a Chicago police press release stated.

Here's a list of the times and places for Coffee With a Cop events in each participating district:
