Comcast Outage Hits Business Phone Service in Chicago Area
Thousands of small businesses are having issues making and receiving calls in Chicago and the suburbs during nationwide service problem.

Comcast business customers are experiencing outages across the country Tuesday with widespread outages also being reported throughout the Chicago area.
The outages as shown on the Comcast Outage map seem to be concentrated in the Chicago area and Michigan, the Northeast, south Florida, parts of Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
The outage map shows thousands of reports spread across the city and suburbs. Some customers experiencing outages reported via Twitter and Facebook. in hopes of reaching their customers.

Comcast issued this statement Tuesday late afternoon:

"Early today an issue in our network prevented some of our small business customers from making and receiving phone calls. A forum post on the Comcast Business website says the following:

If you're currently having issues making and receiving calls, National engineering is actively working to resolve this issue and we will continue to update this thread with the most current information.
Service impacted SMB ( Small to Medium Business) voice only*
This should not impact Business Voice Edge or PRI Trunking lines.

Customers reporting the outage to Comcast via Twitter get this reply from customer service: "Sorry for any frustration, we are currently working to resolve this issue. No estimated time of repair yet."
