Comcast Outage Hits Chicago

Many other U.S. cities hit by major Comcast service disruption.

Comcast customers, including some in Chicago, lost cable television and Internet service for hours in major U.S. metropolitan areas Monday. The problem began around 6:30 a.m. on the East Coast. The outage peaked in the Chicago area around 10 a.m. Comcast says most of the problem ares were fixed by early afternoon.

Areas affected included New York City, Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minneapolis, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and Houston.

Philadelphia-based Comcast said it was unclear what caused the outage. Spokeswoman Jenni Moyer says engineers continue to work on a temporary network interruption and apologized for any inconvenience.
