Cook County Health & Hospitals System Recognizes North Side Resident with Nursing Clinical Excellence Award

Becky Goldberg, RN, Bs. ED, ACRN is one of ten nurses honored this year by Cook County Health & Hospitals System (CCHHS) with their annual Professional Registered Nurses Clinical Excellence Award. Goldberg, of Andersonville, was honored for her work within the Ambulatory and Community Health Network (ACHN). Goldberg was nominated by her coworkers and leaders at the Ruth M. Rothstein CORE Center for her exceptional work as a Nurse Clinician and her commitment to the CCHHS values of respectful and professional medical care.

Goldberg has worked for CCHHS for 25 years and makes a significant impact on her team every day. At the CORE Center, Goldberg has worked on critical epidemics such as Hepatitis and HIV. When asked about those 25 years, she replied, “I’ve been so fortunate to spend much of my career at a place that not only greatly exceeds the national averages of parameters for people living healthy with HIV, but is also filled with the most caring staff I have ever encountered.”

CCHHS recognizes the importance of a strong and dedicated nursing staff. During the June 16th ceremony recognizing the award winners, CCHHS Chief Nursing Officer Agnes Therady said of the winners, “These are fine professionals committed to improving patient experience, increasing quality and safety, transforming culture, creating a team spirit, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to get the best outcomes for patients and staff.”

Later in the ceremony, CCHHS CEO Dr. Jay Shannon discussed the meaning of excellence. Stressing values such as self-motivation, passion, and drive, he noted the exponential impact of the nominees’ “ripple effect”, as they inspire their patients and colleagues with their enthusiasm and expertise. The ripple effect distinguishes this year’s Clinical Excellence Award winners, and is what motivates the next generations of excellent nurses.
