Cooler Temps, Rain Expected Mid-Week In Illinois

A cold front will bring cooler temperatures, and rain with a possible thunderstorm on Wednesday.

ILLINOIS — Temperatures will rise above normal for the start of the work week, before cooler conditions return by the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday and Tuesday will both be sunny and have highs in the 70s, with a high of 74 on Monday and a high of 72 on Tuesday. The weather service said early morning lows on Monday may dip into the 30s.

Wednesday will also be warmer, with a high of 74, but a cold front will bring scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the weather service.

Showers are also possible on Thursday, as temperatures are much cooler with a high of 65 expected, the weather service said. Friday will be mostly sunny, but even cooler than Thursday, with a high of 57 degrees expected.

Although the start of the week will warm up again, the first widespread lows in the 30s were seen Sunday morning, according to the weather service. Lows of 32 degrees at Rochelle Airport and 33 degrees at Aurora Airport in Sugar Grove were the lowest temps in Illinois on Sunday, and likely the lowest so far this fall, the weather service said.
