Cops in Laquan McDonald Case Recommended for Firing
Inspector General report suggests at least 10 police officers in the case be severely terminated.
CHICAGO, IL - Several high-ranking Chicago police officers could be fired for their involvement in the 2014 fatal shooting of Laquan McDonald by Officer Jason Van Dyke.
The city of Chicago’s inspector general has recommended at least 10 officers be fired or severely disciplined for their handling of the case, a source told the Chicago Sun-Times.
The first domino to fall is that of Deputy Chief David McNaughton, who retired last week. McNaughton was one of several officers who signed off on a report that indicated Van Dyke only fired his weapon in fear of his life, when McDonald was approaching him with a knife.
