Cubs vs. White Sox: Fan Support by Neighborhood

Vivid Seats study shows which team each Chicago neighborhood supported more from 2013-2015. You'll find a few surprises on the South Side.

CHICAGO, IL - While winter brings us together with the likes of the Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls, the summer divides sports fans in Chicago.

You either support the Cubs or the White Sox. Not both, although one prominent Chicagoan argues otherwise.

Obviously there are more Cubs fans on the North Side and White Sox fans south of State and Madison. But how does it breakdown by ZIP codes and neighborhoods?

Chicago-based MLB ticket price blog Vivid Seats took a look at ticket data for both teams from 2013-2015 to find out where people were buying passes to Wrigley Field and U.S. Cellular Field.

Fans of both squads might find this interesting. While the Cubs swept all of the city’s North Side neighborhoods, the same couldn’t be said about the White Sox and its half of town.

Both the communities of Woodlawn and Morgan Park on the South Side favored the Cubs during the study’s three-year period. Also, there were ties in North and South Lawndale, Brighton Park and Gage Park - all on the South Side.
