Chicago-Area Weather Forecast: Dense Fog Possible Tonight, Cloudy Week Ahead

A look at this week's weather forecast for the Chicago area.

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Chicago area tonight as fog is possible for the area -- some of which may be dense.

As for the upcoming work week, Chicago area residents can expect cloudy skies for much of the week. There is a chance for morning rain showers on Monday with wet weather expected for a large part of the Chicago area Monday afternoon. High temps between 56 and 62 degrees are in the forecast.

Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry with mostly cloudy skies. High temps between 51 and 56 degrees are in the forecast on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the forecast will be much of the same with high temps between 51 and 57 degrees. On both days, cooler temps are expected along the lake, according to the National Weather Service.

On Thursday, rain is again likely. High temps between 49 and 55 degrees are in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is also likely Friday morning with more rain possible in the afternoon. Highs will reach into the 50s inland but only make it the mid-40s by the lake.

  • Monday: Cloudy. Chance of light rain in the morning, then rain likely in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 40s to low 50s...but only in the mid 40s near the lake. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. chance of precipitation 70 percent.
  • Monday Night: Cloudy with a 40 percent chance of light rain. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 40s inland...but only in the mid 40s near the lake. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph.
  • Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 40s inland...but only in the mid 40s near the lake.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy. A 30 percent chance of rain after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s.
  • Thursday: Rain. Highs in the upper 40s. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
  • Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain in the evening, then rain likely after midnight. Lows in the upper 30s. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
  • Friday: Mostly cloudy. Rain likely in the morning, then a chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs around 50 inland...but only in the mid 40s near the lake. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
