DePaul WSB Bats Cold in Loss
The DePaul Blue Demons struck out 15 times in a 7-2 Loss to Illinois State University

DePaul traveled to Normal, Illinois to face interstate rival Illinois State. The Red Birds took a 7-2 win over the Blue Demons.
Illinois State scored three in the second. That would be all they needed to improve their record to 21-5.
In the fourth, Kate Polucha belted a solo shot to left to cut the lead to 3-1. It was her team-leading sixth home run of the season.

The score remained 3-1 going into the sixth. Angela Scalzitti singled and advanced to third on two errors. Polucha's sacrifice fly scored Scalzitti to make it 3-2, but that would be it for DePaul.
ISU put up four insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth and held DePaul scoreless in the seventh to seal the win. The ISU win streak increased to three.

Natalie Halvorson took the loss, dropping her record to 5-4. The pitching story of the game was her mound counterpart Morgan Day, who struck out 15.
DePaul (16-9, 7-1 BIG EAST) returns home to Cacciatore Stadium for a weekend series with Creighton. The teams play a Saturday double header, followed by a single game on Sunday.
