Design Unveiled For Skyscraper Almost As Tall As Hancock
A Chicago developer revealed renderings of One Chicago Square, which if approved would go up in the Holy Name Cathedral's former parking lot
CHICAGO, IL -- A Chicago developer has revealed design renderings for what could be one of the city's tallest skyscrapers. The development would go up in the parking lot across from Holy Name Cathedral on State Street. The plans include two towers--one that would be 76 stories, the other 45 stories--side by side on the lot.
The $740 million One Chicago Square development would take up a full city block, and include a nine-story building with a fitness center, a spa, restaurants, a grocery store, and other retail space.
The plans also include about 795 apartments, 75 condos, 45,000 square feet of office space, and 659 parking spots. The condos would start at $2 million.

The developer filed a zoning application with the city earlier this month. In order to get the proposal passed, the development company has been working to address traffic concerns, parking issues, and other logistical details.
The Archdiocese of Chicago reportedly sold the Holy Name Cathedral's parking lot to the company in April.
