Off-Duty Chicago Cop Found Dead In Home

Detectives are investigating the death.

CHICAGO, IL — Detectives are investigating the death of an off-duty Chicago police officer who was found dead in her home over the weekend.

Aleshia Carter was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, which reported the cause and manner of death were pending as of Monday afternoon.

Carter, 33, was discovered unresponsive shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of South Carpenter Street in Pilsen, according to police, who said she was pronounced at the scene.
