Early Voting Begins For Chicago Mayoral Runoff Election

Early voting began Friday, but expanded to all wards Monday.

CHICAGO — Chicago mayoral candidates Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle are facing off in a runoff election April 2, and early voting has begun across the city. Voters can send their ballots in by mail or at designated polling places.

Residents can register to vote in person or online, and must present two forms of ID. Even if you didn't vote in February, you can still vote in the runoff election.

Election Day registration is also available on April 2, but only at the polling place assigned to your home precinct. You can check your voter registration status here.

The ballot you cast in early voting is final.

To receive a ballot for voting by mail, you will have to submit a vote by mail application, which can be submitted online or at the offices of the Board of Elections. The deadline for requesting a ballot is 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 28. You can find more information at the Chicago elections website.

In-person early voting is available March 18 to April 1, at the Loop Super Site, 175 W. Washington, and at ward sites.
