Entercom Switches 104.3 K-Hits To Hip Hop After CBS Merger

The change happened after Entercom closed on its acquisition of CBS Radio Friday.

CHICAGO, IL — The Philadelphia-based broadcasting company and radio network Entercom closed on its $2.4 billion acquisition of CBS Radio Friday. Right after the merger, Entercom announced it's changing WJMK-FM 104.3 from Chicago's greatest hits to classic hip hop. The station is now branded 'The New 104.3 JAMS,' the "ultimate destination for classic hip-hop and R&B," according to an Entercom media release.

The new format aims to "capture the essence of Chicago from when The Bulls won six NBA championships, to when locals like Oprah and Barack Obama became homegrown heroes," the company said.

Pat Paxton, Entercom’s president of programming, said the station will "usher in a brand new chapter for Chicago radio."
