First Measurable Snow Expected This Weekend
The area could see between 1 and 2 inches of snow on Sunday. Snow could return again next week.

CHICAGO, IL - The first measurable amount of snow of the season is expected this weekend.
The snow is expected to move across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana Sunday morning with 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible. The snow accumulation should be the heaviest Sunday afternoon and into the early evening. North central Illinois could be the hardest hit by the snowstorm, according to the National Weather Service. Highs in the mid 30s are possible.
As for the rest of Friday, cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s are expected. To those heading out to any outdoor holiday events Friday evening, Lows in the 20s are expected overnight with west winds reaching between 10 to 15 mph — so be sure to bundle up.

On Saturday, partly sunny skies and highs in the mid 30s with west winds between 5 to 10 mph are expected before the snow comes on Sunday.
