Flashback Weekend Recap

Flashback Weekend was three days of awesome fun with celebrities, panels, screenings, friends and more.

I had a great time at Flashback Weekend with my great friend Cuzz Gekas. This year featured PJ Soles and Kelli Maroney two of my longtime favorite actresses, but also a whole lot more.

Robert Englund was the headline celebrity, but since I previously met the horror legend, I opted to skip his lengthy line. Friends who met him all were full of praise though.

My first stop was to see Maroney. Thanks to my older sisters, I first saw Maroney on tv's Ryan's Hope. Since then, I have seen her in dozens of projects including Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Whenever I see Maroney, I always thank her for an interview she did with me years ago. She is a real sweetheart.

My other stops included catching up with Flashback Weekend regulars James Azrael of the Horror & SciFi Prop Preservation Association (HSPPA), Chad Savage of Sinister Visions, writer Jon Kitley, filmmaker-author Jason Paul Collum and filmmakers Mike Carey and Chris Margetis. I also got a pleasant surprise by seeing visiting author Michael West at author John Everson's booth.

Soles had a lengthy line all weekend, but through good timing and help from show promoter Mia Kerz, I actually saw Soles in the back area. Despite being on a break, Soles was kind enough to talk a bit and take a photo. I thanked her, too, for an interview from years ago.

It was a fantastic time as always. The crowd was big and there was such a fun vibe all weekend. I always say Flashback Weekend has all the great things any of the "big" conventions, but it retains a family feel. The guest list is always amazing and it is run so smoothly.

Thank you to Cuzz Gekas for his help and lots of fun. Thanks to promoters Mike and Mia Kerz for the hospitality and or running an awesome event. I already look forward to Flashback Weekend 2023.
