Former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock Indicted on Wire Fraud, Theft Charges: Report

Aaron Schock was reportedly hit with a 24-count indictment.

Former U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Peoria, was hit with a federal indictment charging him with fraud and theft, according to media reports.

Schock, 35, who resigned in March, was charged with theft of government funds, fraud, making false statements and filing false tax returns, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"Schock quit Congress on March 31, 2015," the Tribune said. "The same day, he was served with a subpoena outside his Peoria home by three federal agents. The subpoena told him to appear before the grand jury and turn over large number of records from the previous five years. He never testified before the panel."

Questions about Schock's financial dealings first arose over his Downton Abbey-themed office makeover, which drew attention to other expenditures, including stays at five-star resorts and a private flight from Peoria to Chicago for a Bears game, among other things.
