Free Giveaways as Shake Rattle and Read Closes in Uptown
Long line forms as owner of longtime favorite Uptown record store says take it all.
CHICAGO, IL - Nostalgia lovers have the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday to stock up on everything old school from Shake Rattle and Read, a popular record and book store in Uptown.
The store officially closed on Saturday, but store owner Ric Addy said everything left over in the store will be free from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to a Chicagoist report.
The phone at the store is already off, and those coming in will need to bring their own bags and boxes to scoop up what they want.

There's also a considerable line outside the longtime popular shop at 4812 N. Broadway.
"This line is insane!," Chicagoan Johnny Schulte wrote on Facebook Tuesday afternoon. "I've been here 20 minutes and I'm probably 25th in line and it goes on forever."

The owner wrote on the now closed favorite's Facebook page he is "trying to avoid" putting anything in the dumpster.
Just one hour in to the 12-hour bonanza, it appears that won't be a problem.
