George Lucas Museum May Force Bears Tailgaters Elsewhere
Soldier Field's South Lot would become part of the George Lucas Museum.

CHICAGO, IL - If plans for a museum dedicated to Star Wars creator George Lucas ever materialize on Chicago’s lakefront, it could be the die-hard football tailgaters that are affected the most.
The South Lot of Soldier Field, where there are about 1,500 tailgating spaces, would become part of the museum’s property. A Chicago Park District plan would move those spaces to a large parking garage on 18th Street in the long-term and dispersed amongst several city locations while the garage is being built, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Alternate sites include Northerly Island and the former Michael Reese Hospital site.
