Glencoe Advises Caution After Unofficial Survey Circulates

Residents are being urged to avoid unknown links as Glencoe and the park district make improvements to public areas.

GLENCOE, IL — Glencoe residents are being warned about a text-message survey concerning the village lakefront that local officials said is not an official communication.

In a notice, the Village of Glencoe and the Glencoe Park District said they are aware of a survey distributed by text message regarding Glencoe’s Lakefront. The notice states that the survey “was not created, distributed, or endorsed by the Village or Park District and should not be considered an official Village or Park District communication.”

The unofficial survey includes topic relating to the village's ongoing updates to Glencoe Beach and Lakefront Park.

In May, the village and park district said they planned “a series of coordinated changes to improve traffic flow, parking management, and pedestrian safety in the Glencoe Beach and Lakefront Park area ahead of the upcoming 2026 beach season.” The update said the plan follows feedback from residents and discussion by the Village Board.

At the time, residents asked the board at its April 16 meeting to consider “resident only” parking around the beach and Lakefront Park. The Board then reviewed information developed by staff at its May 21 meeting.

After discussion that included comments from more residents, “the Board opted not to adopt additional changes at this time, though staff was directed to continue to monitor the situation and recommend changes should they be warranted.”

For this beach season, the village said it is updating parking signage and will increase parking enforcement and the physical presence of the Public Safety Department. The village and park district also said they will continue analyzing how effective the 2026 season changes are and will consider further amendments based on collected data.

The village directed residents with questions about the lakefront work to www.villageofglencoe.org/lakefrontparking.
