Greater Chicago Food Depository Participates in Global Effort to Fight Childhood Hunger
Volunteers Pack Food for Families in Need

The Greater Chicago Food Depository hosted Morgan Stanley volunteers today to pack and sort food for programs that reach low-income families and children across Cook County. The Food Depository’s programs provide nutritious food for people in need, including students who need additional meals during summer when they lose access to free and reduced-price school meals.
The volunteers, employees at Chicago area branches of Morgan Stanley, were participating in the firm’s “Feeding Kids Around the Clock,” 24-hours of continuous employee volunteer activities dedicated to raising awareness of childhood hunger. Morgan Stanley employees in the US were scheduled to volunteer in more than 40 food banks, packing or serving meals across the United States.
“Giving back is one of Morgan Stanley’s core values,” said Morgan Stanley Regional Director Steve Austin. “What better way to show our commitment than to assist the Greater Chicago Food Depository in serving the kids and families in our community.”

“Only one in six Illinois children who receives free or reduced-price meals at school receives free summer meals,” said Jill Zimmerman, vice president of development at the Food Depository. “Morgan Stanley’s support will help the Greater Chicago Food Depository reach more children with the food they need for a healthy summer.”
