HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK: Strong Storms Possible This Afternoon

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Chicago area as strong storms could hit Thursday afternoon.
Scattered thunderstorms are likely across the entire Chicago area this morning, but severe weather is not expected until later. From this afternoon into the early evening, some thunderstorms will become strong to severe — with the areas hardest hit expected to be southeast of the Pontiac to Kankakee to Valparaiso, Indiana, line, according to the National Weather Service.
Severe weather is not expected north of Interstate 80, but isolated strong storms producing heavy rain and small hail are possible. The severe threat will end by early this evening.
