Heat Index Values Near 100, Hot And Humid Weekend For IL

ILLINOIS — The hot and humid weather continues through the weekend, as peak heat index values around 100 degrees are possible Saturday and Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday will have a high of 93 degrees and Sunday a high of 91 degrees, according to the weather service.

The weekend also features a chance of storms, including on Friday night. The weather service said an isolated thunderstorm is possible Friday, mainly across far northern Illinois.

A few showers or storms are possible on Saturday, but most areas will remain dry, the weather service said. The main shower and thunderstorm chances will be on Sunday, as a weather system moves into the area.

Temperatures finally look to cool slightly with the start of the work week, as the high for Monday is 85 degrees, according to the weather service. However, the chance of showers and storms continues on Monday and Monday night.
