IL State Rep. Celebrates Summer Learning Day at the YMCA
On National Summer Learning Day, the South Side YMCA was visited by State Representative Barbara Flynn-Currie.
Earlier this month, on National Summer Learning Day, the South Side YMCA was visited by long-time YMCA supporter and State Representative Barbara Flynn-Currie (D-25). She met with South Side YMCA Executive Director, Cherese Ledet, and with Jill Edelblute, Senior Director of Government Relations for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, and also took a tour of the facility.
This summer, the YMCA of Metro Chicago partnered with the Illinois Institute of Technology to provide 3-day STEM camps that encourage some serious girl power through art and computer science activities. Rep. Currie observed the Y’s STEM Camp program, Day Camp, Early Head Start programs, and other services that the Y offers.
