Illinois' Most Dangerous Intersection: Report

An infographic has revealed the most dangerous intersections in each state.

CHICAGO, IL — A new study reveals the most dangerous intersection in Illinois is on Chicago's South Side. Using data from Badintersections.com and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Rubens & Kress report is based on automobile crashes and pedestrian accidents. The study reveals that Stony Island Avenue and South Chicago Avenue is the most dangerous intersection in Illinois.

The deadly intersection sits on the border between four Chicago neighborhoods: Avalon Park, Greater Grand Crossing, South Shore, and South Chicago.

According to data from the National Safety Council, 2016 was the deadliest year on American roads in nearly a decade, with more than 40,200 Americans dying in motor vehicle crashes. It is also estimated that 4.6 million Americans were injured in motor vehicle accidents in that same time period.
